COVID-19 tests free of cost in private labs: Supreme Court
On 8th April 2020, the Supreme Court of India ordered the private labs to make COVID-19 testing in private labs free of cost. The Government of India had earlier allowed the private labs to test COVID-19 after being approved by ICMR. The prices of the test were capped at Rupees 4500.
India’s GDP at 4.8%: United Nations
On 9th April 2020, the Untied Nations released a report on Economic and Social Survey of Asia and Pacific (ESCAP), 2020. According to the report, the economic growth rate of India is to shrink to 4.8% in 2020-2021 and the growth rate might improve in the year 2021-2022.
Due to lock down in India, unemployment rate increased to 23%
The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) recently released a survey on the current unemployment situation in India. According to the survey, more than 20% of Indian Economy has lost their jobs since the lock down.
Edible Oil declined by 32.44%
The Solvent Extractors Association of India reported that edible oil imports in India has declined by 32.44% in March 2020.
Three types of Health Care Facilities to be set up to manage COVID-19
the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare announced that the hospitals and health facilities have been classified to deal with COVID-19 cases in the country. The three types of centres are – 1) COVID Care Centre. 2) Dedicated COVID Health Centre. 3) Dedicated COVID Hospital.
