A Ration Card is a proof of citizenship in India that provides entitlement to the food and basic requirements at reasonable rates by the Public Distribution System. After Aadhaar Card, Ration Card is amongst the most coveted ID proofs/documents for anyone's citizenship in India. This ID proof is provided and validated by the state government.
Ration card is also used as proof of applying for making a Domicile certificate, Birth certificate, Voter ID card etc.
Who can apply for a Ration Card?
Any person who is a bonafide citizen of India can apply for the Ration Card. Minors i.e. children below the age of 18 years are included in their parents' card. However, an individual above 18 years of age can apply for a separate ration card.
Types of ration card?
- Below Poverty-Line(BPL) ration cards
- Non-BPL
The BPL ration card is blue/yellow/green/red cards separated by colours depending upon entitlement to various subsidies on food, fuel and other goods.
The white ration cards are for people that are above the poverty line.
How to apply for a ration card?
There are separate website and link to apply for ration card which is dependent upon the state a person lives in. Go to the website of the state you reside in and apply for the ration card.

- Click on the Application form
- Fill in all your personal details.
- After filling the details, now upload all the documents and click on the “apply online” button.

यदि आप नया राशन कार्ड घर बैठे बनवाना चाहते हैं तो आपको अपने संबधित राज्य की ऑफिशियल वेबसाइट पर जाना होगा | इसके बाद निचे दी गई प्रक्रिया को फॉलो कर सकते हैं :-
- सबसे पहले अपने राज्य की ऑफिसियल वेबसाइट (official website) पर विजिट करें.
- इसके होम पेज पर आपको नया राशन कार्ड बनवाने के लिए लिंक मिल जाएगा.
- राशन कार्ड बनवाने के लिए आईडी प्रूफ के तौर पर आधार कार्ड, वोटर आईडी, पासपोर्ट दिया जा सकता हैं.
- अगर ये कार्ड नहीं है तो सरकार के द्वारा जारी किया गया कोई आई कार्ड, हेल्थ कार्ड, ड्राइविंग लाइसेंस दिया जा सकता है.
- आपको राशन कार्ड का आवेदन करने के साथ ही पांच से 45 रुपए फीस देनी होगी.
- एप्लीकेशन सबमिट होने के बाद इसे फील्ड वेरिफिकेशन के लिए भेजा जाता है.
- अधिकारी फॉर्म में भरी जानकारियों की जांच कर पुष्टि करते हैं.
- जिसके बाद आपको नया राशन कार्ड पोस्ट द्वारा भेज दिया जाएगा.
